ABSTRACT

 

           

        

                Human beings practiced for many centuries drying fruits and vegetable under the Sun light. This method is known as direct open drying of products, however, it has many disadvantages. Wind direction, rain, insect’s attacks and other external interference like deteriorating of weather are the drawbacks of this method, which results the contamination of the food and minimize the life span of the product. (Food preservation). Solar dryers have been developed in order to solve the problems of direct open drying method.  Based on their mode of air motion, solar dryers can be natural or forced convection dryers. The type of dryer systems can be Direct, Indirect or Mixed solar dryers. Differences and their definitions will be explained this project.  In this project, solar dryer will be our main discussion topic.
